From its capital, Porto Alegre, to the interior of the State, going through the Região da Serra (Mound's Region), Litoral Norte (North Coastline), Costa Doce (Doce Coast; also known as Mar de Dentro), Litoral Sul (South Coastline), Região das Missões (Missions' Region); Zona dos Vales (Valleys' Zone), Região Central (Central Region), known as Coração do Rio Grande (Rio Grande's Heart), Pampa and Região de Hidrominerais (Hydro mineral Stations Region), the nature in Rio Grande do Sul goes up and to the sides, generous and fascinating. Its inhabitants observe the natural wealthy of this earth carefully and tenderly. They are the result of different ethnical groups, with its refined feelings by the History, its sensibility and natural sense of hospitality.
RS is located in a strategical position related to Mercosul's countries, which is a block formed by Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. The main road shafts that bind those countries are on the State. Rio Grande's harbor facilitates the outflow of Brazilian products to neighborhood countries.
The State has the larger Brazilian boundaries with the countries on the Prata region: 1.003 km with the Uruguay, to the South, and 724 km with Argentina, to the West. To the North, Rio Grande do Sul boundaries with the Santa Catarina's State, along the 958 km; to the East, with the Atlantic Ocean, in an extension of 622 km.
